* FOS (Thomas Poulsen, Denmark, 1971) lives and works in Copenhagen. His artistic practice is diverse and spans many genres and materials. His work encompasses, in the broadest sense, sculpture, installation, music, architecture and design, exploring how the language of objects and space defines us as social beings. FOS' recent solo exhibitions include: Hands worn smooth by coins, Copenhagen Contemporary, Copenhagen (2019), /palim(p)sest/, Nils Stærk, Copenhagen and SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah (2018), The Original Designer’s Workshop, etgae projects, Copenhagen (2017), Maggie Margret Lives, as part of the ICA London one-year project Fig 2 (2015), Porthole, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2015), Declarations of Unsolid Memories, Camden Arts Center, London (2013), One language Traveller, SMK-National Gallery of Denmark, Copenhagen (2011). Other significant projects include: Your success is your amnesia, a monumental public work commissioned by the Ny Carlsberg Foundation for a Copenhagen school (2016), In the shadow/ of a spectacle/is the view of the crowd (in collaboration with Jesper Just), part of Performa15, New York, NY (2015) and Osloo, a floating pavilion shown as part of the Danish participation in the 54th Venice Biennale (2011). In 2017 FOS presents Rapture, a 14 meters-tall tower, made of concrete, wood and thatched roof in Aalborg, Denmark. He is currently part of the group show: Ayrton. Four exhibitions by Armando Andrade Tudela, Nina Canell, Tania Pérez Córdova and Fos, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City.
FOS is educated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Awards: in 2006, he received the Danish Arts Council's three year working grant, in 2011 the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Award and Residency – ISCP, International Studio & Curatorial Program, in 2017 the Arken Art Prize, in 2018 the Thomas Bindesbøll Medal and the Aage og Yelva Nimbs hæderslegat, in 2019 the Albertsen Fonden.
